Photographer Kara Trail is a Houston native. After growing up in Houston, she went to The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied Marketing and Spanish. Shortly after graduating from UT, Kara went to culinary school of all things and became a chef. Kara met her husband Sam while living in Austin, and after their wedding, they moved to the beautiful town of Saint Helena, California, in the heart of the Napa Valley. Kara began working in restaurants and shortly thereafter found a job at a winery. During this time she fell in love with graphic design, working on many of the winery's print and online communication projects. During their stay in California, Kara and Sam had two boys. A few years before moving back to Houston, Kara started focusing on photography, on top of her graphic design work.
In 2007, after seven years of living in Saint Helena, California, Kara and her family decided to move back to their hometown of Houston, Texas. Immediately Kara immersed herself in photography and started her business by photographing friends and family. After 14 years, Miroma Photography has grown into a thriving business, focusing on child and family portraits, high school seniors, weddings, food and jewelry photography, newborn photography, lifestyle headshots and of course, graphic design! Every Fall, Kara photographs dozens of families and then custom designs and prints each of their holiday cards. Every photo shoot brings new excitement and ideas.
In addition to being behind the camera, Kara loves cooking (and eating!), traveling with friends and family, hanging out with her kids and husband, skiing, hiking and running.
